The tools of the workshop are the toys of students themselves -Nintendo DS and Wii. Console games provide an active and collaborative approach to learning, rapid feedback responses to decisions and most importantly, a friendly environment where players can develop skills essential for the 21st Century.
Ban Ryan was a primary school teacher for forty-one years and a teaching principal for twenty-eight of those years at Lismackin NS., Roscrea http://www.lismackin.ie. Passionate about the role technology can play in support of teaching and learning, Ban now works from the Laois Education Centre as a tutor/facilitator to teachers interested in integrating ICT into their classroom practice and as a LST for a number of hours each week.
Anne McMorrough is a primary school teacher at St Martin de Porres National School, Tallaght, Dublin http://smdp.scoilnet.ie. This year, she is teaching 6th Class and has responsibility for the development of ICT integration within the school. She is also a member of the eTwinning Ambassador Network.
