Microsoft Office

Use of Microsoft Office tools to produce individualized student assignments, an anti-plagiarism initiative leads to a serendipitous change in classroom culture!

Presented by:
Laurence Cuffe

When I developed a tool to produce class work assignments all of which were distinct I primarily had in mind avoiding problems of plagiarism in class. However when I started using them I found that I could change my teaching style to one which was much more constructive in nature as I could allow peer teaching, group learning and even at a micro scale project based learning to occur.

Laurence Cuffe: After completing my doctorate in computational chemistry, I taught at university level in The USA, teaching Math’s and Physics at the University of New haven, Math’s at Post University  in Waterbury Connecticut, and Physics at  Central Connecticut state university. I returned to Ireland in 2008 and since then have been teaching mathematics with Wicklow VEC to Youth-reach and Mature students.  I have developed a fascination with how we learn technical material and  I and am currently pursuing a M.Sc. in e-Learning with DIT.  The course material on learning theories has helped to inform my analysis of the above research
